I hit the water with my Dad for Father’s Day – before I knew what was happening he already had an inshore slam in the boat!

We were down in Charlotte Harbor, Florida just after it rained for a few days.

See the change I needed to make to catch up to my Dad in the video below!

Lures Used:

• Prawn USA Junior on the Hoss Football Jighead
• Skinny Lipper
• Gold Digger Mulligan Paddletail

My first mistake was wanting to catch a fish using the Skinny Lipper.

I hoped the fish would be aggressive when they weren’t on this day.

This is when you need to really dial into what the fish are responding to instead of forcing the issue.

On the other hand, my Dad was fishing the Prawn USA Junior right along the bottom.

Two completely different lure styles and retrieves.

And he was hooking into much more fish from the start.

I had to make the change to the Terd Ferguson Polk County Tweaker at this point to get strikes.

But, my Dad did not stop catching fish on the Prawn USA Junior.

To the point where I needed to throw the exact same rig on.

The trend of the day was looking for wind-blown points.

Anytime wind was pushing up onto a point, we would meticulously fish the entire area.
